What are your Check-out/Check-in times?

Check-in is 4pm or later. We have a self check-in procedure and a lockbox for access, so those with late flights or long drives to reach Savannah can arrive whenever they need to. We can try to arrange early checkin if another guest hasn’t just left, but can’t guarantee it. We can help those arriving early by offering to let you drop off your luggage which cleaning is in progress.

Check-out is by 11am. If new guests aren’t arriving on the same day we will try to accommodate late checkout requests.


I’ve heard that parking can be a challenge in Savannah. Is parking available for your Cottage?

Our cottage is very parking-friendly.

In parts of the Historic District parking meters line the streets, and they expect to be fed with quarters beginning at 8am and throughout the day. If you aren’t an early riser, or don’t want to be bothered with keeping a box of change available, this can be quite an annoyance. In these neighborhoods visitors can purchase temporary visitor parking passes from the Savannah Visitors Center or at the Savannah Parking Authority office.

We have a dedicated off-street parking space next to our cottage for one “small” car. Our guests have reported that they have parked all sorts of vehicle sizes – and we have parked our own Toyota Highlander (a large-ish SUV) in the space. Those with larger vehicles should consider backing in to make it easier for the driver to get out.

Our neighborhood has no street meters, and it’s easy to find free street parking. If you choose to park on the street (many of our guests do) be sure to check the posted signs for date and time for opposite side street cleaning.


Why is there a departure Cleaning Fee?

If you are new to furnished vacation rentals, the concept may seem strange to you. It’s quite common for properties like ours.

In Savannah in particular, some owners choose, as a business decision, to include this cost as part of the nightly rental rate. We, along with many other owners, have chosen to break this cost out as a separate item. Hotels – with many rooms and an in-house cleaning staff – have cleaning expenses also, but bury that cost in the room rate.

The cost that we list for departure cleaning is what we pay for this service, without any markup. The cleaning fee for 2 guests is $50.00, $75.00 for 3 or 4 (adjusted for washing additional towels and sheets).

When a guest leaves our cottage, an outside cleaning crew follows right behind – vacuuming, mopping, cleaning the bathroom and kitchen, washing bed linens, towels, etc. – in order to make the cottage ready for the next guests. We allow a full 5 hour window between check-out and check-in for cleaning.


What is your Cancellation Policy?

We include this clause in our Rental Agreement regarding cancellation:

Refund Policy for Rental Terms of One Week or Less: If written notification of cancellation is received 15 days or more prior to rental start date, payments of rents and deposits will be fully refunded, less a $ 25 cancellation fee. If notice is received less than 15 days prior to the rental start date no refunds will be made. Payments of rents and deposits may be applied toward a future rental at the discretion of the Landlord, less cancellation fee.

Refund Policy for Rental Terms of More Than One Week: If written notice of cancellation is received 30 days or more prior to the rental start date, payments of rents and deposits will be fully refunded, less a $ 25 cancellation fee. If notice is received less than 30 days prior to the rental start date, Tenant will be liable for the full amount of rents and deposits made. Payments of rents and deposits may be applied toward a future rental at the discretion of the Landlord, less cancellation fee.
